Best time of the year!

This morning, as I am helping The Little with getting dressed for school, I mentioned that it was Valentine's week. Her dress had a huge heart in the middle of the chest area made out of sequins. After getting the garment over her head, she responded to me with a question. "What is after Valentine's Day, Mom?" She very interested in our schedule these days.....

I started to list off things like Daddy's and The Lady's birthdays, Spring Break, and St. Patrick's Day. I ended the quick list with "And we can't forget Easter!" Her eyes lit up and here is how our conversation went:

The Little: Oh, I love Easter. It's the best time of the year for the whole world.
Mom: Why do you like Easter so much? What happens at Easter?
The Little: We get chocolate!
Mom: And what else?
The Little: Jesus comes back, Mom. I think it's even better than Christmas.

My heart jumped a beat just in that moment. Here was my sweet child, the youngest in the family, and she truly knew how important the Easter celebration is to us. We continued the conversation by talking about Jesus and what he taught us and how he sacrificed and saved us. She pretty much led that discussion.

This type of conversation helps us to know that we are doing a great job as parents. Some days, it's harder to be convinced of that.  I will also insert here that the pre-school The Little attends is amazing and they really do help her understand these important facts of life, they help to support what we talk about at home. It really does take a village.
